A collection of literary papers of Oriel Gray. The collection consists of two typed manuscripts of Gray’s unpublished autobiography Scraps of Paper.

Oriel Gray was an Australian playwright and screenwriter. Her work focused on social issues, notably feminist issues and class conflict. Her 1955 play The Torrents was co-winner of the 1955 Playwrights’ Advisory Board Competition with Ray Lawler’s Summer of the Seventeenth Doll. Her other well-known works include Lawson (1943) and Burst of Summer (1959).
Gray also wrote scripts for television, including ‘We Should Have Had a Uniform’ (1975) for Quality of Mercy. She was also on the writing staff for the soap opera Bellbird (aired 1967 - 1977).
She published her memoirs Exit left: memoirs of a scarlet woman in 1985 and later published one novel, The Animal Shop (1990).
