Biographical Note

The Youngstreet Poets are a group of Sydney-based poets founded in 1979 to provide a workshop setting in order to close the distance between creators and readers. The group was named after Young Street, where they were founded, but altered their name to avoid being confused with ‘street poetry’. They are still meeting, based since 1995 at Writing NSW, with a limited number of invited members.

The Youngstreet Poets have published several anthologies of Australian poetry, including Refractions: poems (1983, ed. Geoff Page), Procession (1987, ed. Fay Zwicky), Directions (1991, ed. Rosemary Dobson), The breaking line (1995, ed. Peter Skrzynecki).
