Abstract | This collection comprises manuscript papers and related material produced or accumulated by Brett Lodge for his book entitled The fall of General Gordon Bennett, and his 1987 PhD thesis entitled 'Lieutenant-General Sir John Lavarack as military commander'. |

Brett (Anthony Brettell) Lodge was born in Australia and educated at St Stanislaus' College, Bathurst, NSW, the Royal Military College, Duntroon, Australian Defence Force Academy, Canberra, ACT, and the University of London. He has a PhD from the Department of History, Australian Defence Force Academy, Canberra, ACT.
Lodge is a former soldier, journalist, academic and documentary producer. He has also worked for the United Nations in the Middle East, South-East Asia and the former Yugoslavia. His United Nations posts have been varied, ranging from murder inquiries to responsibility for reporting to the Secretary-General on political, humanitarian and security matters. He now lives in the United Kingdom.
