Accelerating hypersonic flight is characterised by rapidly changing flow conditions and high heat loads. To achieve sustained combustion in these engines, fuel injectors must be capable of also rapidly responding to changing flow conditions to ensure efficient and effective fuel delivery is maintained. Use of porous material as fuel injectors in such engines is a promising solution to this problem.  This project aims to design, investigate and quantify the use of an optimised porous fuel injector that provides a continuous and passively controlled adaptive fuel flow rate into an accelerating hypersonic engine.
