The benefit to research staff and students from the cross-fertilisation of ideas is well recognised and UNSW Canberra actively pursues strategies to promote collaboration across schools, other faculties of UNSW, Defence, government organisations and universities/research organisations in Australia and overseas. Many staff and students are already involved in research collaborations with academic, research, industrial and government organizations.
Research in the School of Business has three focus areas of research concerning the business of organisations. These areas are interrelated and cross-area collaborative research is expected to develop further in the future. Across these three areas, we cooperate with a range of external stakeholders and research partners. These three areas are: Logistics and Business Systems Modelling, Public Sector Management and Governance and Strategic Decision-Making.
The School of Engineering and Information Technology (SEIT) continues to produce the highest level of research outcomes in UNSW Canberra. With over 70 academics, SEIT is the largest School in UNSW in terms of academic staff numbers. The diverse mix of research activities within the School facilitates discipline specific as well as collaborative research initiatives involving various engineering disciplines. In 2013, we identified ten research focus areas, based on our research strength, to promote wider integration within the School. We believe that this process allowed us to integrate, in a more rational way, in presenting our research activities and achievements in a concise fashion to the wider community.
As a science School in a ‘Group of Eight’ research-intensive university our academic staff and research students carry out cutting edge research that is underpinned by wellfunded campus facilities, equipment, and technical and IT support. Our research straddles the broad disciplinary areas that also underpin our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes; Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics and Statistics, Oceanography and Physics.
World-class research distinguishes our School, but also adds an essential element of quality to our core goal of educating the best leaders... The School of Humanities and Social Sciences is one of four academic schools of UNSW Canberra, located at the Australian Defence Force Academy. The University of New South Wales is one of Australia’s Group of Eight (Go8) research-intensive universities, and consistently ranks among the best universities in the world.
