The School of Engineering and Information Technology (SEIT) is the largest school at UNSW Canberra that employs approximately 70 academic staff and a further 40 professional staff in the areas of administration and technical services and currently including 150 HDR students.  Over recent years SEIT has produced more than 400 high impact research publications each year and continues to perform exceptionally in terms of research outputs. Research projects are funded through competitive funding opportunities as offered by the Australian Research Council, Industry partners and Defence, in addition to generous internal support provided by UNSW Canberra.

As a key member of the research team on the Australian Research Council Discovery funded Project “Reactive Planning under Disruptions and Dynamic Changes”, the Research Associate will conduct research into the development of novel evolutionary algorithms for solving different complex planning and scheduling problems under disturbances and dynamic changes.

About the Successful Applicants:

To be successful in this role you will have

  • a PhD degree either completed or expected by March 2017 in the field of Computer Science, Operations Research, or related discipline.
  • demonstrated ability to conduct research in evolutionary optimisation domain.
  • a track record of publications in high ranking journals in the field of evolutionary computation and optimisation.
  • an excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • an ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete tasks within agreed timeframes.
