In-house delivery

UNSW Canberra Professional Education Courses may be available for in-house delivery at your organisation's premises. In-house courses allow maximum attendance without the additional travel costs. Courses can be developed to suit the specific staff development and training needs of your organisation. Recommended for groups of 10 or more.

In this course participants will gain an understanding of how gender equality can be most effectively progressed in public sector organisations. The course will provide participants with practical information on how to develop, implement and evaluate a gender equality plan for their organisation. Participants will leave with ideas and evidence on how to improve their organisation’s gender equality plans, which will also be transferable to other diversity and inclusion plans.

Participants will be required to engage in advance preparation for their course, to ensure they receive maximum benefit.

Dr Sue Williamson

Dr Sue Williamson

Dr Sue Williamson is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at UNSW, Canberra. Sue specialises in two main areas of research – gender equality in the workplace, and public sector human resources and industrial relations. Sue has combined these two areas and for the past few years has been examining how various public sector agencies implement gender equality initiatives. Sue is currently focusing on the role of middle managers in progressing gender equality, and how organisations can become more gender equitable. Course Information

PRIOR TO THE COURSE

  • Two weeks prior to the course, participants will be emailed academic articles to read in preparation of the course

THE COURSE – DAY ONE

Morning

  • Introductions
  • Dr Williamson will provide an overview on what constitutes organisational gender equality, and factors to achieve equality.
  • Interactive workshop where participants will discuss the articles and consider how gender equality can be most successfully implemented and progressed in organisations.

Afternoon

  • Dr Williamson will provide an overview on how gender mainstreaming can be used to progress workplace gender equality.
  • Interactive workshop where participants will examine organisational gender equality policies.
  • Conclusions

Courses will be held subject to sufficient registrations. UNSW Canberra reserves the right to cancel a course up to five working days prior to commencement of the course.
