Currently, Saber is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Engineering and Information Technology (SEIT), University of New South Wales (UNSW) Canberra, Australia. Saber was awarded a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the UNSW Canberra, in 2012.

His research interests include the areas of evolutionary algorithms, constrained and unconstrained optimisation, scheduling, multi-objective optimisation, big data and cyber-security using computational intelligence.

Dr. Elsayed was the winner of different IEEE-CEC competitions. Since 2019, he is serving as the chair of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (ACT Chapter). He is an editorial board member of the International Journal of Business Intelligence and Data Mining. He was one of two Program Chairs of the 20th Asia-Pacific Symposium on Intelligent and Evolutionary Systems (Canberra, Australia). He also serves as a reviewer in several international journals including the top-tier ones in the field. Saber was also a member of the program committee of several international conferences.
