Mehdi Nobakht is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of New South Wales (UNSW) Canberra, Australia. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from UNSW Sydney, Australia in 2018 and his M.Sc. degree in Information Technology specialising in Electronics and Communication systems from the University of Turku, Finland in 2013. During his PhD studies, he was also affiliated with information Security and Privacy Group at Data61 | CSIRO. His research interests are mainly in IoT security techniques, securing IoT devices and data, adopting network-level security measures using new technologies such as Software-defined Networking (SDN) and Blockchain.

Prior commencing his Ph.D. studies, he was a research assistant at Software Engineering Laboratory (SElab) in the Department of Information Technologies, at Åbo Akademi University, Finland. Before moving into research, he worked nearly 10 years in telecommunication industry where he developed various telephony signalling protocols such as SS7 and V5 interface.
