Edward Scarr joined the Australian Centre for the Study of Armed Conflict and Society (ACSACS) at the University of New South Wales in December 2015. Prior to that Dr Scarr was the 2015 Australian Parliamentary Fellow where he wrote a monograph for the Federal Parliament on mental health and the military.
Dr Scarr was awarded a PhD from the Australian National University in 2013 for his research in the Departments of Philosophy and Sociology. He has taught courses in philosophy, sociology, law and politics at ANU, the University of Canberra and UNSW.
Dr Scarr has a background of military service in the ADF having graduated from the Royal Military College in 2007 and deployed as a platoon commander on Operation Anode in 2010.
