Ali Ahrari received his Bachelor and Master degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Tehran in 2006 and 2009, respectively. He received his PhD in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University (MSU) in 2016, and subsequently worked as a research associate at MSU until June 2018. He has received 2012 Richard H. Brown – ME Endowment Award and Graduate Office Fellowships. He has won a few recent competitions on optimisation such as CEC'2016 and GECCO'2016 competition on niching method for multimodal optimisation and ISCSO 2017 competition on structural optimisation. Since July 2018, he is working at UNSW-Canberra as a research associate.
